Amped Up Audi: Where Air Ride Meets Air Guitar

Over the years, we’ve seen lots of incredible builds, but our customers still know how to surprise us with their creativity.  

Stuart Hammond’s 2016 Audi A3 S line Sportback 2.0L TDI has undergone many modifications to achieve his perfect vision since he purchased the car in November 2022 and got to work straight away.  

With the plan to stand out from the crowd, this modified Audi is modified with a full Maxton design front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser, and spoiler, with an RS3 Honeycomb front grill, RS3 front and rear bumper, and custom exhaust.  

Stu’s Audi is equipped with Air Lift Performance 3P, with a custom boot build, an air tank, and an Airguitar, with LED strip lights, LED screen, and a built-in fully functional Line 6 guitar amp, built and fitted by Airtek Automotive, which positioned hardline pipes to look like guitar strings. The air management system runs Air Lift Performance bags, with a Viair 444C Chrome 12 Volt Air Compressor Kit with a 4-gallon tank and water trap. 

“Airtek Automotive did an amazing job of bringing my design idea to life and created a hardcover shelf so that I can still use the boot for daily life without damaging the creative masterpiece of my boot build,” Stu said.  

The Line 6 amp is fully functional and powered by a 15v power pack tucked away under the boot floor with the compressor. The power pack also powers all the color LED strips and the LED screen. 

As a former musician and frontman of Sixdaysober who loves cars and guitars, Stu wanted to give the idea of an air guitar a new spin.  

The Audi has a custom wrap with acid yellow, black, and white decals created by Wraptor Customs, who also staged 1 mapped the engine.  

“The loud graphics and bright colors are to entice people and get them to check out the car, and then they get the added surprise of finding the boot build,” Stu said. “The custom boot build is my favorite as it ties all my passions together, and a build like this has never been done before.” 

Along with the air guitar, the vehicle features a working microphone since the boot strap didn’t fit the boot’s build. The mic features Calvin’s Car Diary logo, ‘ONIT,’ as the Audi won Best Modified at the CCD event in 2023, personally chosen by YouTuber Michael Shublacker. 

“The Audi was also an upgrade on my much-loved Chameleon Green Seat Leon, which was my first car that I started taking to shows,” Stu said. “The Leon was also on air, which is why I knew straight away that I was putting the Audi on air, too.” 

The Audi also features a carbon fiber and Italian Alcantara steering wheel, Mk3 Cupra brake conversion, an iXsoundPRO exhaust system fitted by Autostyle UK, and 19-inch Inovit alloy wheels powder-coated in chameleon flip color, green to purple, by Performance powder coating B9.  

Stu is also getting his VW Caddy show-ready, which has a range of modifications and might go on air when the time is right. It also includes an Mk5 GTI engine swap.
